  1. If all those claims are true and those are really the first instances of those SF elements then this hack was a genius. I wonder how good a writer he was as well and if it’s worth seeking out this unofficial ‘sequel’. Sounds almost as interesting as WotW itself. Thanks for the link!

    1. I’ve read it. It’s available as a public-domain download from Project Gutenberg. Trust me, despite some interesting ideas, it’s a boring book and I am someone who enjoys ancient fiction of that type.

      1. Then thanks for the warning! I find that I’m reading less and less SF these days with all my other ‘hobbies” taking up my time and that I am far less tolerant of marginal writing. Something really has to grab me or I’m going to slow down my reading which of course only exacerbates the problem. I can no longer ‘invest’ my time with a book that may not make the cut. It is I who cuts my losses early on.
