  1. The cast was at the Montreal Comic-Con this year, but their autograghed photo at over $100 was too much for me.

(BTW: I finally got my account here fixed up again, so I’m back!)

    1. Good to see you back. I hope all is well with you.

$100 is a lot of money, but since most of these folks charge around $20 per signature, it would probably cost you more if you were to get individual signatures from everyone.

I don’t like having to pay for autographs, but I understand their motivation. I instead prefer to collect signed books from different authors. First editions of famous writers can get expensive, but if you only care about the signature you can get affordable items if you don’t mind book club editions, 10th printings or lesser known titles.

Going that route, I’ve obtained signed editions from people like Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke and Frank Herbert. Of course, I have no real way of knowing whether or not the signatures are legit or fakes.

      1. Welcome back Thoth!

While I understand some celebrities charging for auto graphs at cons, it’s the sometimes ludicrous prices that get me. While I have been tempted on occasion, I have never actually plunked down for a sig. There are a few (very few) that I would seriously consider, but even then it would depend on the price. Thankfully SF authors and Comic artists/writers don’t charge (with a few exceptions). In most cases if they have something to sell on their table I often end up getting something from them as thank you anyhow.
