Are nominees McCain and Palin really Tigh and Roslin from Galactica?

Some bloggers have noticed a remarkable resemblance between the Republican nominees John McCain and Sarah Palin with Colonel Tigh and Sarah Roslin from Battlestar Galactica. It wasn't long before a website was created to propagate the meme.

I don't know if the similarity will garner the Republicans any extra votes, but BSG fans will probably pay more attention to politics this fall since it's rumoured that the second half of the final season of the show won't actually begin until April 2009. The thinking is that they want to get the fanbase hooked on the Caprica sequel.

There's news that the Galactica ratings are actually starting to stink so it's probably a good time for the show to wrap up. The creators of the show think the numbers are irrelevant and that a lot of fans are timeshifting the series or watching it online and that it is more popular than ever. That could be. I suspect the bad ratings are because the network keeps jerking people around by leaving them waiting for long periods between new episodes. I, for one, haven't actually watched any of the shows from season 4. I've got the first half waiting on my hard drive and I won't watch them until the final episode is set to air.
