It's been about 6 months since this film came out on the big screen... Columbia House gave me a discount on top of the sale price, so I went for this right away. A browncoat gets this new, not used after all!
Without giving any spoilers to the film's content, let me just state this: FOX were fools to cancel the Firefly series. This film proved it with a better budget and a chance for the actors to really stretch. Also, it just cemented a fact that any of us could tell you: Joss Whedon is fantastic as a writer.

Love the show, and enjoyed the movie, hopfully they will go on with this, but I wont hold my breath. It don't think it did well enough at the box office to generate interest to make a sequel.

From what I heard (thanks to the blog here) it has now made a profit thanks to DVD sales. Still not enough to make a sequal a valid choice, but it's getting there.

Serenity & Firefly DVD sales spiking at Amazon
Browncoat Thoth: 'aye it's getting there, according to the last time I looked at scifi.com's quoting of Amazon.com's sales figures, Serenity and Firefly hold the #9 and #10 spot on their Top selling SF&F chart.

Serenity has moved up to the #6 spot, and Firefly up to the #8
(Star Wars III has moved up to the spot between them)
However the news is actually yet even better still than it already appears.
3 Harry Potter versions of The Goblet of Fire (Full Screen, Widescreen, Special 2 Disc Edition) hold the #1-#3 rank positions, ergo, one can argue that as SF&F "films"
Serenity is actually now the #4 top selling SF&F DVD.
