Celebrate the new year with the Website at the End of the Universe's free downloadable 2007 calendar

Decades before Princess Leia ever wore her metal bikini in Return of the Jedi, women frequently modeled fine metallic swimwear on the covers of pulp science fiction magazines to excite the imaginations of impressionable, young readers.

Relive those days by downloading the Website at the End of the Universe’s free 2007 calendar. Each month features a different bathing beauty from the future as illustrated on a vintage science fiction magazine cover.

No religious or secular holidays are indicated on the calendar, but the birthdays of different science fiction authors, editors and artists are there for you to start new holidays. Tell your boss that you’re taking January 2nd off because it’s Isaac Asimov’s birthday.

You can get your copy of the calendar by clicking here. If you’re interested, calendars from previous years (2004, 2005 and 2006) are also available. Each file is a downloadable PDF.

Have a healthy and happy 2007 and may your year be filled with the wonder that is science fiction.

Still no mention of Philip Jose Farmer's birthday on January 26! What's a Grand Master to do?

Blessings

Awesome Job Cap! finally a good reason to break in my new batch of color inks.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm(n)

That gives me an idea.

(oh no - Ed)

Go Away Ed.

What I'd also like to do is extract them and set them up as wallpapers on my PC that automagically change on the first of the month.

Thanks for the bon mots

Hi all,

I'm glad you're enjoying the calendar. I don't even want to know what my bandwith costs are going to be this month.

I've always been a sucker for pulp art and have far too many books on the subject, not to mention my own personal collection of crumbling magazines. Sometimes the stories are even as good as the art. If you like that sort of art, there are plenty of places online to admire examples of it. A good place to start is VISCO, the Visual Index of Science Fiction Cover art.

If you're curious about the typeface I chose for the month and year it is a free font called SpacePatrol.

As for forgetting Farmer, perhaps I'll correct the slight by adding him in the 2008 calendar. The problem is that space is limited and there are so many interesting names to choose from in January. Gregory Benford, Judith Tarr, Walter Miller and Geoffrey Hoyle are other names that I omitted. Admittedly, none of them are Grandmasters.

Thanks for the calendar

Thanks again for the yearly calendar Cap.

On the subject of fonts, it reminded me to look up some of my favorites and in searching for some of them I came across this site which just has oodles of cool themed fonts, plenty of them being SF related. Too many to mention so check them out yourself:
