Little-seen science fiction film La Jetée finds its way online

La JeteeTerry Gilliam's movie 12 Monkeys is on a lot of science fiction fans' top 10 lists. Anyone who's a fan of the movie is probably aware that it borrows heavily from a French film called La Jetée. It's a pretty obscure title and one that not many have seen. Thank goodness that the Internet can change that. An English-dubbed version of the movie is available for viewing online as is one in the original French.

It's amazing how much interesting video is available for the taking online. One example that's been making the rounds lately is this amusing remix of the Star Wars movie as if it were a silent film. Somehow, it works. For something a little more goofy, check out this vintage clip from Saturday Night Live that imagines the final voyage of Star Trek's Enterprise.

If you're interested in saving Flash video to your hard drive for later viewing and are a Firefox user, I recommend the VideoDownloader extension to facilitate the task.

Thanks

Thanks very much for posting this. La Jetee has been on my list of movies to see for quite a while.

It's not there now.

I also found three early Jules Verne movies on-line.
