Lost another one

Wally Schirra passed away the other day. In case you missed it:

Since he was on all three projects leading up to the moon (Mercury, Gemini, Apollo) he was pretty hard to miss in any space race documentary.

He had 'the right stuff' and will be missed.

Every time one of these guys passes on, we come that much closer to returning to an Earth that has no one that has set foot on the moon.

I think it's time to plunk in my "Rocket Science" DVDs.

They lost Scotty!

I was also saddened by the news. The first astronauts had the right stuff. I'm sure today's do as well, but could you name me one active astronaut? NASA really ought to pump up the publicity machine and turn some of those folks into celebrities. Only then would anyone pay any attention to them. Maybe Paris Hilton is available.

Speaking of astronauts, another one who passed away recently was Gordon Cooper. His ashes, along with Star Trek's James Doohan, were blasted into space recently. It turns out that their remains actually take a trip into space then return to Earth. It seems that the return capsule has been lost which means Doohan's, Cooper's and 200 other peole's ashes are missing. How much do you want to bet that they end up on eBay?

18 days and counting...

It's been 18 days now and still no report of finding Scotty and the rest of the ashes.  The payload had 4 transmitters that they are using to triangulate the box. Apparently they are all working fine but they still haven't found it.  They claim the batteries are supposed to last a month.

Ain't looking good...

Scotty's ashes have been located

I guess they won't be selling them on eBay after all. They found Scotty's ashes.

He's unDead, Jim.

I think I'd 'ave preferred it if Scotty'd been lost in space.

But I can see that was never an option wot with the low-orbit and re-entry imminent.  After this, I'm seriously considering making it my life's goal to be the first man (thing - Ed) jetissoned into space in full corporeal form.  Now all I need is a rocket ship kit.

Ronco, get to it!
