From Leia’s bikini to Amidala’s wedding dress: Star Wars costumes on display in new Seattle exhibit http://t.co/3TCL87Jjxs #starwars

Well I’ve never been to Seattle at all, much less having had to visit either the old or revamped museum so I cannot say for sure that it is now a watered down version of it’s former self. Just going on the name change. BTW, I’m assuming you did see the travelling Star Wars exhibit when it was at the old port two years ago, right? It was amazing.

I was curious if this was being hosted at the Science Fiction Hall of Fame when I saw that it was somewhere in Seattle so I did a little digging. The good news of fans being able to see Leia’s bikini is tempered by the fact that the SF HoF is now a watered down version of its former self. Still a lot of SF and Fantasy, but no longer solely dedicated to the genre.

Not sure if it’s watered down because I never saw the original museum, but the displays I saw at the EMP Museum were pretty impressive. Capt. Kirk’s chair! A real Dalek! The fantasy stuff was equally cool, like original manuscript pages from the Lord of the Rings. These Star Wars costumes would doubtless make it even more worthwhile to visit, although the display is supposedly touring for the next several years so it may end up somewhere closer to where we live.

My high school years were in the 70s, but the archetypes of the nerds and jocks still resonated with me. It would be great if someone turned this into an animated feature!

Pretty cool. I like how they replaced the Millenium Falcon with a Z-28 Camaro sporting the eagle hood emblem. Spot on eighties (at least in the neighborhood I lived)!

Rumour has it that J.J. Abrams has finished his script for Star Wars: Episode VII.

Now the fans are wondering where it fits into the Star Wars Expanded Universe or whether said universe will even continue to exist after Disney finishes with it.

As the new owner of the franchise, it would appear that the years of accumulated post-Return of the Jedi stories would hinder how they move forward so it’s likely that a lot of that output will be thrown out as non-canon.

Disney is taking firm control over its Star Wars investment. Not only has it cancelled The Clone Wars TV show and a never-aired animated comedy (which may be a small blessing), but it’s also saying bye bye to Dark Horse Comics.

Not coincidentally, Disney owns Marvel Comics so it only makes sense that they tap into that cash cow.

My local library has a ton of the Dark Horse Star Wars editions and they were very good so I, and many other fans, can only hope that Marvel comes close to matching their quality.

Plenty of Star Wars fans love the bounty hunter Boba Fett, but until his back story was filled in through the prequels. comic books and novels, he seemed like a bit of a loser considering how quickly he is dispatched in Return of the Jedi.

Rumour has it that a solo Boba Fett film may be in the works, which gives you an idea of how Disney may be approaching the Star Wars universe. Sure, have another trilogy to fill out the original story, but develop those side characters as Marvel did for its comic book movies, and you can churn out multiple movies and watch the cash roll in.
