The violence in the movie The Hunger Games is scaring some kids, although the source of the report is dubious. http://t.co/XkQFa0bX

A teacher is on leave because a parent complained Ender’s Game is “pornographic.” My 9-year-old’s reading it. I’ll ask. http://t.co/gyU6a33T

It’s been so long since I read it I don’t remember anything that might be objectionable in it. Wondering now if it’s appropriate for a 9-year-old. (Technically he is still 8, but his birthday is next week.) So far, he says he’s enjoying it. The 11-year-old is trying Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. I hear him laughing when he reads it so that’s a good sign.

Thought about taking the kids to see 3D Phantom Menace on the big screen. Calculated it would cost $55+ for 4 of us. Sorry Jar-Jar.

If you were 11, had never seen the Alien, but only read the novelization, this is what your comic book would look like. http://t.co/UTqlQq9E

Locus has an interesting piece about genre picture books for young kids, including the argument that Dr. Seuss is scifi. http://ow.ly/6oFTE

Don’t show my son this Lego Star Destroyer – he’ll want one. Not to mention it will probably cost some outrageous sum. http://ow.ly/5qL0X
Really? I know it dealt with some mature subject matter, but nothing like that. I was wondering which of my SF books I was going to dangle in front of my kid after he finishes the Hunger Games trilogy and Ender did come to mind.
