In 1974, science fiction author Philip K. Dick gave a speech in Metz, France titled “If You Find This World Bad, You Should See Some of the Others.” Anyone who’s read the strange journal ramblings which were partially collected in the book “The Exegesis of Philip K. Dick” will be familiar with the weird visions that inspired him and his later works like VALIS and The Divine Invasion. Much of the speech deals with his belief in simultaneous worlds and timelines that overlap each other. Look for his reference to “The Matrix World” and wonder if it might have been something that influenced the Wachowskis. You can watch the full speech below or, if you prefer, you can read it here.
